Not wanting to be a party pooper, I thought I would give this type of product another shot. I tried out Revlon’s new line of lip stains, which I am reviewing below.
Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased
Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm in Forbidden, $8.97 CDN @ Wal-Mart
Reason for Purchase
Seriously? Helen Mirren. She gave this product (and exact shade) a positive mention in the January 2011 issue of In Style (Gwenyth Paltrow is on the cover).
Notable Features
It’s a doubled-ended product. On one end you have your felt-tip marker lip stain, and on the other you have a clear moisturizing balm.
Packaging
It looks like a marker pen.
Experience Using Product
Quite honestly, I don’t know why I keep trying out lip stains. I guess I have the hope that one will be better than the other. I tried the Cover Girl stain, and it was horrendous. Revlon, unfortunately, did not work out to be much better. I will give them extra marks for including a moisturizing balm with the stain - it makes a bit of difference.
I applied the stain to dry, exfoliated lips. I made sure that my lips were stretched, so that there are no ‘wrinkles’ or ‘creases’ for the stain to pool in. I let the stain dry before reapplying any. I put on the balm after applying the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, and then checked out my handiwork. This is what I saw:
Grossness. That does not look good at all - it’s patchy and the stain bled.
Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject
I will not be re-purchasing this product; because my experience with it was so poor, I can’t honestly recommend it to you. I reject this product. I spent almost 10 dollars on this product, so I don’t feel comfortable throwing it out without at least giving it another shot; so, I am going to use it as a ‘base’ to darker/deeper colored glosses and lipsticks.
