Reason for Purchase
In my quest to honor one of my New Years Resolutions for 2011 and not to shop at Sephora for a full year, I have started looking at drugstore and big-box store makeup more critically to find good deals and decent products at fair prices.
These are extremely cheaply priced lipsticks - so I had to give them a shot!
Notable Features
On the Wet n Wild website, this lipstick formulation is noted as being Enriched with conditioning ingredients of Vitamins A & E and Aloe Vera for moist-looking lips.
There are 22 shades available in the line.
Packaging
Each lipstick has a silver tube (mix of matte and shiny) and the cap is clear plastic.
Experience Using Product
Ladies, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this product.
I have not bought a Wet n Wild product in years...no, at least a decade. I remember back in the day when their lipsticks use to come in a white tube with Wet n Wild scrawled across it blue metallic print, in their standard brand font. All of the lipsticks had that classic lipstick scent to them - a little bit plasticine-y with just a hint of vanilla. Wet n Wild is one of those brands that just screams 90’s at the top of its lungs. I vividly remember my first ever lipstick (given to me one year in my Christmas stocking by my mom) being by Wet n Wild, and I also remember buying a few tubes of their mood-changing lipsticks (the lipsticks changed color based on your mood...actually your body temperature, but you get the idea). I know the brand has changed significantly since then, so I had the idea to try something new of theirs.
I bought two shades that are relatively safe for me - a shimmery deep nude, and a shimmery blue-based pink. The scent to the lipstick really has not changed much - it’s classic Wet n Wild. It is not offensive at all, and has no bearing on whether or not I use the lipstick.
The lipsticks apply very smoothly. They wear surprisingly long and are moisturizing. Through experience, I’ve almost come to expect poor performance from ‘moisturizing’ lipsticks...I was happy to be surprised that these ones are true to their claim. The lipsticks do not bleed and I didn’t use any kind of lip liner with them.
Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject
Due to the fact that the lipsticks are just so darn cheap, perform well, and come in a nice range of colors - yes, I would re-purchase. I would also recommend the lipsticks to anyone looking to buy makeup on a budget, or who has a little sister that is just starting to wear makeup.
If you just want to give the lipsticks a shot, you really can’t go wrong at the price...even if you don’t like them, it’s not like you broke the bank buying them!
