REVIEW: Annabelle Smudge Liner Eyeliner Pencils

Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased

Annabelle Smudge Liner Eyeliner Pencil, $ 9.49 CDN @ PharmaPlus (also available at Wal-Mart and Shoppers Drug Mart)

Reason for Purchase

I have always had a soft-spot for Annabelle cosmetics - they were the first company I really got obsessed with when I first got really deep into makeup in college.

Notable Features

The pencil is opthalmologist tested.

Each pencil comes with a black smudge-sponge on the end (with its own lid to protect the sponge from damage and contamination).

Packaging

The pencil is the color of the eyeliner itself; Annabelle actually does a remarkable job of this. The shade of the pencil will be the shade of the liner itself.

I love the fact that both ends of the pencil are shrink-wrapped to keep the pencil tamper-proof. As a shopper, I am guaranteed not to get a pencil someone has swatched/used in store!

Experience Using Product

First, I’ll start by giving you a swatch of the five pencils that I own:

The shade names are in the same order of the color swatches (L to R)

- Cyber Jungle

- Purple Storm

- Electric Sapphire

- Armour

- Rich Chocolate

These pencils are creamy and don’t tug on your eyelid when you use them. They blend extremely well.

I would compare these to the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencils. I love those pencils, but since Annabelle pencils are half the price, I am much more motivated to buy these instead of UD!

The shade range available is pretty good. I have bought just about all of the neutral, everyday shades (except for black!). I haven’t yet picked up the bright shades they’ve got - but I am definitely going to!

My favorite shade of the lot that I've got is Armour - this is a beautiful taupe pencil that has hints if purple in it. I adore this pencil and use it very often!

Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject

I have tried a LOT of drugstore eyeliner pencils, and for the most part they are pretty disappointing. Annabelle is a brand I constantly go back to for eyeliner. They have a wonderful shade range (even for their normal kohl pencils) and they are very affordable. Annabelle is also a Canadian brand (Montréal, woot woot!).

I would definitely recommend these pencils to you. If you love Urban Decay’s 24/7 pencils, I don’t think these will disappoint you. I will absolutely re-purchase these pencils.

Like I mentioned, you can pick these up at pretty much any drugstore in Canada, and at Wal-Mart and Zellers.
