We are having some crap-tastic weather where I live and it's made me kind of bummed out.
I'm putting up a review in hopes that it gets my creative blog-juices flowing again and I can put together some more posts. I've said I would be doing that for the past few posts, but the actual output from that work is just not what it should be. I blame summer. I'm too interested using my free time for lazing around, lol.
Anyhoo, here is my latest product review!
Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased
MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Dark Indulgence, $ 24.00 CDN @ MAC.ca
Reason for Purchase
I was extremely excited about the Semi Precious collection and, consequently, ended up buying most of it.
Notable Features
This eye shadow is limited edition, released as part of the Semi Precious collection in July of 2011.
Not all mineralize eye shadows have the same amount of colored veining as others; and very rarely does what you get actually look like the display picture on the MAC website. You may have to browse what’s available at your MAC counter for the shade you want, to find one that you will be happy with!
Packaging
This eye shadow comes in the standard black MAC compact.
The eye shadow will not fit into a Pro Palette.
Experience Using Product
There were twelve eye shadows launched with this collection, and of the twelve this is one of the black based shadows.
I was seriously on the hedge about buying any of the Semi Precious shadows with lots of black in them - raccoon eyes do not look good on me! But, out of all of black-based shadows, this is the one I thought would be most appropriate for my skin tone. So, I was brave and stepped out of my makeup comfort-zone and bought Dark Indulgence.
This eye shadow is made of a black base (both shimmer and matte) with shimmery forest green veining. There is no glitter to speak of in this eye shadow. The pigment is soft and buttery - and the colors are very deep and strong.
I use this eye shadow when I want a bold but wearable statement eye look. I put Blackground Paint Pot on my eyelids as a primer first, and then pat Dark Indulgence on top (adding more shadow if I want more color). I have never used this shadow without a base, but its color would still be strong. I have also used this eye shadow as a liner.
Here is a swatch of what this eye shadow looks like:
Left: Without a base
Right: On top of Blackground Paint Pot.
Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject
I am glad I stepped out of my comfort-zone to buy this eye shadow. As a result, I don’t have any like it that are already part of my collection. Anyone who likes darker eye shadows or green eye shadows will enjoy this eye shadow - so that’s who I recommend it to. If you’re like me and shades like this make you intimidated - I think you would like this eye shadow too...just give it a try!
You can get this eye shadow from the your local MAC counter and online. Remember that it’s Limited Edition, though - so once it’s gone, it’s gone!
