Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased
Your Best Face (YBF) Boost, $65.00 USD, www.ybf-Skincare.com
Reason for Purchase
I did not purchase this product. I was sent a press kit and some of YBF's products to try by one of the company's founders, Darrell Owens.
YBF's policy towards sending products to the media to review is that they do not want to influence a positive review in any way. They don't even care if we give them a positive review - they just want us to give their products a try. If we happen to like the product, that's great, if we don't like it, that's fine too.
Notable Features
One of the great things about being sent a press kit is you get a whole ton of information about the products you've been sent.
Here's what you need to know about Boost:
Give any skincare routine a boost with our anti-aging daily moisturizer that helps your face stay healthy-looking and fresh. Boost soothes, reduces redness and balances skin. It is lightweight and lets skin breathe while discouraging breakouts and excess oiliness. You'll find Boost to be your daily mainstay to tighten, tone, refresh and protect your skin.
And, here is some information about Your Best Face:
We craft highly effective skincare products for women and men using cutting-edge antioxidants, peptides and botanicals.
Packaging
Boost comes in a grey cylinder with a metallic silver label. You pull off the cap, to reveal a pump that will dispense the cream.
Experience Using Product
I don't know about anyone else, but when I receive products to try I am always a bit skeptical about them - just because I have not personally chosen what I've been sent. So, I have no idea if the product will have a nice scent, if it will irritate my skin, etc.
Boost is marketed more as a day-cream, but I have been using it as my night-cream. Now that it's the fall, I find I am back to needing to moisturize twice a day because the climate is getting dry (both inside my house and outside!).
The scent of this cream is the first thing I noticed; to me, it smells like a cross between cinnamon hearts and red Twizzlers. I love it! The scent fades very quickly after you apply it, and is not cloying or overwhelming. I do not find that it irritates me in any way.
The cream itself is lightweight, like YBF promises. I used three pumps on my face about 20 minutes before I go to bed. The cream applies very evenly and sinks in to my skin quickly. The cream does not leave an oily residue behind, like some other moisturizers do. This is hugely important to me, because the last thing I need is to have oil sitting on my skin overnight - leftover oil on my face creates a breeding ground for blemishes! The cream seeps in/dries very quickly - another great feature.
Since using Boost, my skin has not experienced any irritation from it - which is amazing! It's rare that I can find a new moisturizer that won't react with my skin in some way. Another great thing is that when my eczema flares up, I can use my special moisturizer in tandem with Boost and the products do not react with each other on my skin. I love this - its so important that any moisturizer I use is compatible with that cream, because sometimes I HAVE to use that. I am sure other eczema sufferers out there can attest to that importance, too!
I have also noticed that the cream appears to be helping to reduce the size of my pores, which is pretty cool! Drugstore products I have tried that are suppose to do the same thing have never worked very well for me in the past. I have also had a reduced number of breakouts lately (don't get me wrong, I still get the odd pimple - just not as frequently). I would not call this a miracle cream by any means, but it's a cream that does what it is suppose to - at least for me it does!
Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject
I was genuinely surprised to find that I liked Boost. I enjoy applying it on my face and it does exactly what it's supposed to for me.
When I run out of the Boost sample I was sent, I would definitely consider buying the full-size products. However, the prices has me a little hesitant.
I would recommend this product to you; if you have sensitive skin like me, you may want to ask for a sample first before purchase.
