Monthly Faves: May

I love monthly favorites - both posting them and reading them!

I don't know what's been up with me over the last few months, but my monthly favorites in entries past have been small. This one is no different!

These are products that have seen a lot of use this month; some I have used over the whole month.

Clinique Almost Makeup in Shade 01 Fair
This foundation has been discontinued by Clinique. This is my last bottle of it. :( I figured I might as well use it up before it expires rather than hanging on to it for special occasions. I still have not landed on a good replacement for this foundation. Clinique Even Better Makeup was close, but not quite perfect! Purchased at Sears

NARS Bronzer in Laguna
I love all three of NARS's Bronzers (I have them all), and Laguna is my second favorite (Irresistiblement is first!). Spring has been quite dreary where I live, so the shimmer in this bronzer has served to brighten my face nicely. Purchased at Sephora.ca

NARS Concealer in Vanilla
I have been using this to brighten the skin under my eyes; I just put three small streaks on under each eye (vertical streaks) and then blend them out with a foundation brush. Purchased at Sephora.ca

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
I have been using this as my eye shadow base all month. I love this primer - more than the original one! It's slightly more pigmented and shimmery than MAC's Bare Study Paint Pot. It came with my Naked Palette - so technically I bought it at Sephora.ca

Calvin Klein CKIN2U (100 mL)
I got a really really really good deal on this eau de toilette. I bought it for $20.00 on sale for Mother's Day. The scent has notes of citrus; it's a very fresh scent that I've been wearing a lot of. It's perfect for summer. Purchased at PharmaPlus

Essie Nail Polish in Shade 383 Innocent
I have found my 'perfect pink' nail polish. I am totally in love with this shade. In the bottle, the polish has a blueish-pink shimmer to it - which disappears on your nails. However, depending on what you are wearing, the shade can pick up other notes of color, switching between being more of a coral pink to a blue based pink. I love it! Purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart

Here is what the polish looks like on my nails (excuse the chipping - I've had it on all week and I need to take it off tonight!):

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Shade 200 Latino
Yet another blue-based-pink shade of product (I seem to be using a lot of them lately!). I love this lipstick. I've worn it most of the month. It's not obnoxiously bright pink, and it's not super muted either. Just pink enough! Purchased at PharmaPlus

Here is a swatch of some of the other products I've talked about:

L: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Shade 200 Latino
ML: NARS Concealer in Vanilla
MR: Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
R: NARS Bronzer in Laguna

One of my other favorites that I can't seem to stop watching is a clip of Justin Timberlake's appearance on Saturday Night Live recently. It's a skit he did with Kristen Wiig and Lady Gaga, called 'Liquorville'. I love it!

I've also been picking up some items to include in my 1st Annual Blog Birthday Giveaway (full details to be announced July 1st!); I have picked up some NARS items, Essie, and an NYC item or two. The prize pack is going to be AWESOME! I'm totally stoked to get June over with and post the details of the giveaway!

I am planning a relatively quiet weekend. I have some homework to do, and a book I want to finish reading. I also have to get my butt into gear and do some more posts - I have lots I want to share with you all!

Enjoy your Friday night!

A Simple Saturday Haul

I hope all of you are having a good start to your week. I'm happy it's Victoria Day, which means that it's a Statutory Holiday and I don't have to be at work! I took Friday off too, so it's been a nice four-day weekend for me. My brother was up on Saturday and Sunday and he headed home last night. I've been enjoying the opportunity to relax and catch up on a few good books!

Anyhoo, I was out shopping on Saturday and I picked up a few items that I thought I would share in a haul.

Calvin Klein Eau De Toilette - Obsession (not pictured)
I am a HUGE fan of Calvin Klein scents (with the notable exception of CK One) and this one is a very strong one that not everyone loves. Some find it kind of granny-like. I like the scent because of its potentcy. It smells great used sparingly on one day, but it mellows into a lovely faint musk the next day (even after a shower). It's not a scent that I would wear every day, but it's one that will certainly see a lot of use - especially in the winter months. Purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart

Benefit Pressed Powder in Coralista
So, my local Shoppers branch finally got rid of their stash of Georgia, which has been discontinued for awhile. I was tickled to see that Georgia had been replaced with Coralista. I've been wanting to add this to my collection for awhile, so I was really glad to finally get the chance. I have used it a few times and I'm happy with the purchase. Purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart

Annabelle Cosmetics Leopard Bronzer in Jungle Belle
I saw this and added it to my shopping basket without a second thought. This is a Limited Edition product from Annabelle's summer collection; they also have some funky multi-color zebra print eye shadows that I wasn't too crazy about, but might give a try some other time. The bronzer is made up of shimmery tan, pink, and dark brown. I've used it for three days now, and I love it. The bronzer is not overly glittery; it gives your skin a nice shimmery glow. Purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart

Bonne Bell Biggy Lip Smacker in Cotton Candy
I love these! They are perfect to stash in a beach bag or just to have handy in your purse when you've got dry or chapped lips. Cotton Candy is one of my favorite Bonne Bell scents. Why have something tiny in your purse (especially if you carry a massive one like me!) when you could put something in that is bigger and easier to find? Purchased at Wal-Mart

Nivea Pearly Shine Lip Balm
I am not normally a fan of Nivea, but this was recommended to me to try - so I bought a tube! Purchased at Wal-Mart

Cover Girl LashBlast Fusion in Very Black
I have three mascaras on my rotation right now...a Rimmel, a Cover Girl, and a Maybelline. Cover Girl is still my favorite, so it gets re-purchased no matter what. This is the first time I've every bought a tube of 'very black' though; usually I get 'black' or 'black brown'. Purchased at Wal-Mart

Wet-n-Wild Mega Last Lipstick in 906D Wine Room and 903C Just Peachy
I really like this line of lipsticks, so I picked up two more to add to my stash. Wine Room is a nice berry red color, and Just Peachy is a pale peachy-pink. Purchased at Wal-Mart

Wet-n-Wild Silk Lip Stick in 516C Sunset Peach
I have a few of these lipsticks and love them. They're super cheap and the color range is pretty decent. This is my second tube of this shade...I have misplaced the first tube. Purchased at Wal-Mart

I also went shopping to get a new pair of sandals for the summer. I have a brown pair and a gold pair, but no black! So, that's what I was on the hunt for. I did end up finding a pair that I like and that fit my massive feet. I bought a pair of gladiator sandals at the store Biba. Here's what they look like:

While in Biba, I also came across a cute purse that I couldn't resist buying:

And lastly, I was in Bentley looking for a new large wallet and happened upon this smaller wallet and coin purse. I am in love with neon colors and things that remind me of my childhood, and this just screamed Lisa Frank at me - reminding me of funky stationary and school supplies I had in grade school.

So, all in all it was a pretty successful shopping trip!

I'm not really looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but I guess it's necessary if I want to have any money, :P

Have a great week!

Top 5 Perfumes

It has been a full week since my last post, and I have had a hard time thinking of what I want to post next. So, I decided to do something pretty easy: my Top 5 most worn perfumes.

Left to Right: Gianni Versace Red Jeans, Kimora Lee Simmons Fabulousity, Ed Hardy Love and Luck, Calvin Klein Contradiction, and Calvin Klein Euphoria.

I have been wearing perfume since I was about 12 or 13. I've gone from being an 'occasional' user who would only spritz some scent on for special occasions, to someone who uses a few spritzes every day.

I am not going to bother describing what each scent smells like, because I'm horrible at it.

Red Jeans was my second bottle of perfume ever. I got it when I was 13 from my grandmother as a Christmas gift. The smell of this perfume is something that triggers memories of a simpler time, and being a teenager. I'm on my second bottle of this, and I am happy that it's easily accessible and I can buy it a my local drugstore.

Fabulousity is a perfume I have had for about two years. I like to spritz this on when I am going out for an evening, or if I want to smell 'sweet'. It is a good summer perfume, and I got it for my birthday a few years ago. I got a second bottle for Christmas last year.

Love and Luck was a perfume I picked up sheerly for curiousity's sake. I had heard a lot about Ed Hardy perfumes and wanted to give this one a try. Regrettably, I do not use this one much. The scent wears off very quickly, so I don't like to wear it much because of how much I have to use in order for the scent to 'stick'.

Contradiction is my second-fave CK scent. I love CK perfumes...they all smell great. I got a sampler of a few of them (Eternity, Contradiction, Obsession and CK One) when I was 14, and this and Eternity were the standouts for me. I got this perfume as a Grade 8 grad gift from my parents. I love this one a lot.

Euphoria is my no. 1 favorite perfume, and favorite CK perfume. I love to wear this, but I don't wear it as much anymore because I go through a bottle so quickly. I got it for Christmas one year, and got my second bottle for Christmas a year later. This scent never fails to make me feel happy and confident.

My runner-up perfume is another Calvin Klein - Eternity (not pictured). I have a tiny bottle of it, but don't have the full size. This was the first perfume I ever owned, so the scent holds a lot of sentimental value and good memories for me. My parents got me a bottle when I was 12.

Now, if I had to pick a scent that I absolutely loathe - it's actually another CK perfume! And to be honest, I only hate this perfume because of the bad memories I have to associate with it. It's CK One. This perfume triggers horrible memories of Grade 8 for me. When I was in Grade 8, the girls in my grade were obsessed with designer label EVERYTHING...and they would douse themselves in either Tommy Girl or CK One. They would also bully anyone who wasn't wearing designer clothes, makeup or perfume, so I associate CK One with bitchy girls. To this day, I can easily pick it out in a crowd of perfumed people.
