I love a good Paint Pot.
Back when I first heard that MAC’s Posh Paradise collection would contain 8 new Limited Edition Paint Pots, I was ecstatic. I was even more excited when I learned that the Paint Pot shades would be colorful and not all of them would be neutral. I can honestly say that Paint Pots are my favorite MAC item. So, when the collection was finally released, I ordered all eight of the new Paint Pots immediately.
Here they are!
Half Wild - Grape purple with a Frost finish

I’ve had an opportunity to swatch all of these and I’ve worn two already. So far, based on swatch performance and my color preferences alone, I think the standouts are Idyllic, Imaginary, and Nubile. All three apply very well, have amazing color payoff, and work as great cream eye shadows alone or as bases for other shadows. I bet if you have Smoked Ruby Mineralize Eye Shadow from the Semi Precious collection, it would look killer over Idyllic. Nubile reminds me of a cream eyeshadow version of MAC's Naked Lunch eye shadow (and again, I bet it would look great applied over this Paint Pot!). Imaginary is gorgeous. I don’t have any other eye shadow colors like it! If you’re not sure which Paint Pots to get from the collection, I would recommend these three to you.
I am a little less than thrilled with Genuine Treasure and Treasure Hunt - the two yellow-based shades. Both have macro-shimmer particles in them, so they do not apply evenly. Genuine Treasure applies the worst out of all 8 - it takes a bit more work than I would normally like to spend to make sure it applies properly. Treasure Hunt is minutely better. I also noticed that the Easter yellow shade of Treasure Hunt seems to be a shade that MAC is using a lot lately...I also have a Shadestick in the same color family (Cakeshop from MAC Me Over) and two of the eye shadow's in last year's Cham Pale LE Eye Shadow Quad were also this same yellow color (but the shadows were each of different finishes). I don't know why this shade of yellow is so popular with them!
The other thing that I noticed is that my Hyperviolet Paint Pot does not seem frosty at all. It’s matte. Maybe I got a dud that didn’t get any shimmer mixed into it for a true Frost finish, or maybe I’ll hit shimmer once I get further into the pot. Does anyone else with this Paint Pot have a Matte and not a Frost?
Are you planning on picking up any of these Paint Pots? Let me know!
