REVIEW: Annabelle Studio Smudge Paint

Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased

Annabelle Studio Smudge Paint, $10.99 (CDN) @ PharmaPlus

Reason for Purchase

I had seen an advertisement for this product online and thought it looked interesting. I’ve been really impressed with Annabelle’s Smudge Liner pencils, so thought I would give another one of their Smudge products a try.

Notable Features

You get a built-in brush with this product.

The formulation is crease resistant, water resistant, and long-lasting.

It’s a gel based product.

Packaging

The bottle comes in a cardboard box.

The actual Smudge Paint comes in a glass jar with an applicator built in to the lid. Here’s some pictures to show what I mean:

What it looks like out of the box.

Pop off the stem and click the end of the brush back into the lid.

Unscrew the lid and dip the brush into the product.

Experience Using Product

Oh. My. God.

I love these! I have three: Skyline (a metallic blue with a black base), Plummed (a metallic purple with a black base), and Sludge (a matte brown). Here are some swatches:

I put these into the same product family as Paint Pots as they can be used in the same way. These little beauties can also be used as gel eye liners (you can use the brush they come with or one of your own). All three of these shades are well pigmented, but Sludge has the best color payoff because it’s matte and contains no shimmer.

The formulation of this product is definitely long lasting. I have used them both with a primer and without; when used with a primer they last even longer.

Like with most gel products, when you’re applying the Smudge Paint you have to work fast with these as they dry pretty quickly and can clump on your brush as they start to dry.

Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject

Quite obviously, I would re-purchase this product - I’ve got 3! I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who likes gel products and is looking for a relatively inexpensive alternative to high-end gel liners or bases.

You can learn more about these products by going to Annabelle’s website. If you’re Canadian, you will be able to find this product at your local drugstore or Wal-Mart.
