REVIEW: Make Up Forever Face and Body Liquid Makeup
Product Brand and Name, Price (CDN), Where Purchased
Make Up Forever Face and Body Liquid Makeup, $ 42.00 (CDN) at Sephora.ca
Reason for Purchase
I am forever looking for a new foundation that will be my dream match, meaning that I never ever have to buy another foundation again. I have heard lots of good things about this particular foundation so I wanted to give it a try.
Notable Features
This is a gel-based foundation.
Here’s what’s written about this makeup on Sephora’s page:
The secret is all in this top-selling formula. This waterproof, ultra-light, water-based gel contains no emulsifiers and provides a totally natural, satin finish. Ideal for normal skin-types as well as for fine lines and large pores. Gives skin a uniform tone without accentuating imperfections. A makeup artist's favorite.
Packaging
This makeup comes in a chubby glass bottle with a pump (yay!).
Experience Using Product
I was extremely hesitant to try a high-end foundation brand, based on a bad previous experience (NARS Sheer Glow!). Fourty-two dollars is a lot of money to spend on a product that you are not 100% sure will work for you. Unlike a lot of my readers, I do not have the luxury of having a Sephora or MUFE counter located anywhere near me - so if I want to buy or try something from a high-end brand I have to order it online. It took me awhile to finally decide to make this purchase.
I selected the shade Pink Porcelain 38; it’s the best match for my pale pink-toned skin.
I really was not all that crazy about this foundation when I first tried it. It has a bit of a floral scent (heavier than I’m use to - I like it when my foundation has no scent!) and the consistency is very liquid.
The more I use this foundation, the more it grows on me. It has not irritated my skin, and it is long-wearing. It doesn’t transfer easily onto any of my clothes. I get a light coverage from this product, which is what I generally prefer from my foundation. This foundation also leaves me with a matte finish to my skin, even after wearing it for a full work day. It works well with any products I have applied over it: cream blush, liquid blush, powders, liquid luminizers, etc.
Finding the right blush to apply this makeup with too me awhile; I eventually settled on a foundation kabuki and that does the trick.
Like with other gel products, this foundation dries quickly once it has been applied - so work fast!
Would I Re-Purchase, Recommend, or Reject
I would re-purchase this foundation. I have grown to like it, and the way it performs on my skin. However, I cannot bring myself to use it every day, as that means I will have to re-purchase it sooner than I would like. Like I said, $42.00 is a lot of money for foundation! It’s not a purchase I can afford to make every couple of months.
I would only recommend this foundation to you if you’ve got the money to be able to spend on it. If you’re happy with a lower-priced foundation, stick with it!
