I am so happy I get to announce this today!

This year is going to bring some changes to my blog. I've already started to do videos, which will be fun to continue on with. Having this blog has turned into much more than a hobby for me; it's become something I'm fiercely proud of and is part of my everyday life, and I'm meeting great friends through blogging.

Recognize this picture? Its from America’s Next Top Model, Cycle 4 - where Tyra had the girls do a shoot about the Seven Deadly Sins. Can you guess what my contest is about?

I am so excited to do my first makeup contest! I have spent a couple of weeks picking out prizes and brainstorming, and I am so happy to finally be able to post it.

My contest is all about the Seven Deadly Sins. They are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride.

To enter my contest, you need to pick ONE of the Seven Deadly Sins and create a makeup look that is inspired by that sin. You can take whatever kind of approach to your look that you want - make it comical or serious, or just fun! I’m looking for the full package: facial expressions, accessories and above all, a kick-ass makeup job! Use whatever products you have - high end or low end, it doesn’t matter!

RULES

- To enter this contest, you must be a Follower of my blog.
- There is only one entry allowed per Follower.

- Your makeup look must be inspired by one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

ENTRY DETAILS

- There is no location restriction. International entries are welcome!

- The contest is open starting today (Saturday, March 12th 2011), and will close at 8:00 p.m. EST (Canada) on Saturday, April 9th at 8 p.m. 2011. That's one month! No late entries will be accepted.

- Contest entries must be e-mailed to caffeinated.contest@gmail.com or you can post your entry on your blog and e-mail me the link. Your entry must be made up of the following:
----- 2 photos of your makeup look. One photo has to be head on, and the other from a side angle.
----- A short explanation of your look. I would like you to tell me things like: why you picked the sin you chose, why you chose to create the look the way you did, the types of products you used to achieve your look, and most importantly, why I should pick you as a winner!

- Anyone can enter as long as they are a follower of my blog.

JUDGING

As this is my first contest, I have decided that I alone will be the judge. I may ask some people to be judges for my next contest, but wanted to try it on my own for my first contest. After-all, I have no idea if this contest will be a rousing success or a total flop.

WINNER

The winner of my contest is Emily. She chose to base her look on the sin Greed. Here is her look:





And here is the detailed summary she sent in.

I own the WetnWild Palette Greed, so I thought it would be fun to use
it for a "greed" look. I had fun with this concept - I used Urban
Decay Sin as a highlight, too! I did a gold and black look because
one aspect of greed is the pursuit of money (i.e. gold), and it is a
sin (thus, the blackness of sin).

I used UD half baked on my eyelids and waterline, and lips for the
gold; the sparkly black from WnW Greed to line my eyes, Maybelline gel
liner on my waterline (to adhere the half baked eyeshadow), and
Maybelline long-wear pencil eyeliner to do the black base on my lips.
I use blinc mascara for my lower lashes and Maybelline the Falsies for
my upper lashes. I used WnW blush - extra, because greed means
excess.

You should pick me as a winner because I took this one step further
than just creating a look by choosing to use products that
incorporated "sin" and "greed." Additionally, I am very excited about
the first place prize - it has amazing products. Of course the other
prizes look great too :)

I love the details of her entry. She definitely created a look that resembles Greed, and the choices she made for products matched the intent of her look very well.

Christina Hendricks, 2011 SAG Awards

I don't know how many of you read and follow the FunnyFace Beauty blog, run by the fabulous Alicia. If you don't, go check her out by clicking here. If you do, I am sure you are aware of the Red Carpet Makeup Makeup Competition she is running. The idea behind the contest is that you pick a celebrity makeup look for any recent Awards show that has happened and try to create a look of your own inspired by that celebrity's. You can get all the details about the contest and the rules for submissions by clicking here.

I got brave and decided to enter the contest this weekend. I've never entered a makeup contest before and decided it was time to give it a shot.

I chose to create a look inspired by Christina Hendricks at the 2011 SAG Awards (Screen Actors Guild). Not only do I think that Christina looks stunning here, but she is one of my beauty idols.

I tried to re-create her makeup as best as I could. I didn't do my hair in curls because I don't want to damage my hair more than it already is - heat completely destroys my hair.

Here's the explanation that I sent with my entry.

I decided to do a look inspired by Christina Hendricks at the 2011 SAG Awards. She plays Joan on Mad Men. I have attached one photo of her look, and 3 of mine. I chose to a look inspired by Christina because, to be honest, she inspires me. First of all, I think she's gorgeous. Secondly, I think she gives young women who have curves someone to look up to; she has a positive body image and isn't afraid to show her assets off! She is one of my beauty idols.

For my look, I wore a pale peach shimmery base on my eyes, with a grey-blue shadow over top - like Christina's. Then, I heavily lined my upper and lower lashes with a mix of black eye liner pencil and black liquid liner. I finished the eyes off with a few coats of black mascara on my top and bottom lashes. My foundation is pretty simple - I just used what I would normally use. I picked a pale pink barely-there blush, and used Benefit High Beam as a highlighter to add some light to my complexion. From what I hear, Christina uses High Beam too! I wore a high-shine nude lipstick on my lips, and blended in some shimmery light pink lip gloss over top with my fingers to add a bit of sparkle.

For my jewelry, I decided to wear a funky yet glam pair of earrings I got for Christmas in my stocking. I have a dress in my closet that I don't wear often, but that I think has a similar print to Christina's - so that's what I wore for my photos.

I had a blast working on this look - I will definitely start to enter more contests. I'm also thinking of hosting one myself!
