TAG: Summer Nail Color Picks

When I first decided to do the 'Summer Picks' tag, I didn't think I would bother posting about nail polish. I decided to tonight because I cannot make up my mind about which face/cheek makeup products to share with you!

I have a large collection of nail polishes, amassed over the years. My collection is no comparison to the one I had in 7th/8th grades though. Back in the day, nail polish was the business. I had every color imaginable and loved loved loved to wear it. In high school and college I got tired of it, and usually only wore clear polish or a shimmery white or pink. Gradually as I got more and more into makeup and cosmetics, I began to grow a brand new nail polish collection.

It was hard for me to pick just a handful of favorite polishes for the summer months - so I didn't. I picked several handfuls!

I've divided them into categories to make looking at them a bit easier.

Glitters:

- OPI Nail Lacquer in Simmer & Shimmer (Burlesque Collection)
- OPI Nail Lacquer in Teenage Dream (Katy Perry Collection)
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4860-24 Shooting Star
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4860-05 Rockstar Pink

Why pick just plain old silver or gold glitter when you can pick color? These are my faves, alone or on top of other polishes!

Shatters:

- OPI Nail Lacquer in Black Shatter
- OPI Nail Lacquer in Turquoise Shatter
- OPI Nail Lacquer in Blue Shatter
- Barry M Nail Paint Nail Effects in 316 White

Shatters look phenomenal over top of complementary or contrasting colors. You can really create some awesome mixes - my favorite being the white shatter overtop of a blue.

In the picture above it looks like the Blue and Turquoise shatters by OPI are very similar in color - they're not! I just just the lighting!

Regular Polish:

- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4830-17 Hot Magenta
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4830-10 Strawberry Icing
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4860-06 Sun Kissed
- Wet 'n' Wild Fast Dry Nail Color in 224C The Wonder Yellows
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4860-02 Green With Envy
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4830-22 Lime Lights
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 6213-07 Turquoise
- Essie Nail Lacquer in 752 Turquoise & Caicos
- Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in 4830-11 Lavender Envy

I am a huge fan of color, especially bright color, so it's no surprise that all of the polish colors I picked in this category are really bright and crisp!

I love Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color. It is extremely affordable and comes in a huge array of colors. Wet 'n' Wild is another brand of cheap polishes that I'm starting to get in to.

While I like high end polishes, I really can't afford to buy them all of the time. Essie is almost $12.00 per bottle where I live - which is even more expensive than OPI! I only pick up Essie when it goes on sale.

What are your summer nail polish picks? Did you pick any of the same colors as me?

I hope you guys all have a great week!

TAG: Summer Eye Color Picks

Doing this part of the Summer Products Tag was pretty darn easy. Probably because over the summer, I get pretty lazy with my makeup and don’t put so much effort into putting it on - why spend a ton of time on it when it’s probably going to melt off in the heat?

Anyhoodles, I have made a nice little list of my Summer Eye Products that I’ve been wearing a lot lately, and plan on continuing to use over the rest of the summer.

Here we go:

- NARS Eye Shadow Duo in Key Largo

- NARS Eye Shadow Duo in Cordura

- Urban Decay Naked Palette

- CARGO Color Palette in Bermuda

- MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo in Noble Touch

So, that’s a grand total of five products, but each actually contains more than one eye shadow...in truth, there’s a whopping 22 eye shadows in this selection. I think maybe I went a bit over-board? So much for only picking a few products, huh! Ha ha!

As far as the Naked Palette goes, I’m relying on most of the shades on the far left to middle of the palette, to help create a lightly bronzed look on my eyes. I’ve been staying away from the darker and more black or grey based shades (unless I’m having a crappy day - then I slap on some Creep).

Both NARS eye shadow duos are bronze-brown and work quite well together. I use the peach in Key Largo as my all over lid color, and the bronze in that duo as my crease color. From Cordura, I use the lighter brown color as my outer-corner shade, and the dark brown as my liner. This is what I'm wearing today! You can read more about Key Largo by clicking here.

The CARGO Color Palette in Bermuda is an awesome one that I love to death...you can read my review here for all the details!

I use the MAC Mineralize duo in Noble Touch to add a bit more shimmer and shine to looks I create with the other products; the white/pink color is good to use on the brow bone or inner corner as a highlight, and the bronze side adds a nice extra punch of bronze-shimmer on the lid. You can read my review about it by clicking here.

So - that’s Part 2 of my Summer Products posts. Stay tuned for the last part, Part 3: Cheek products. In that post I’ll be covering blush and bronzer.

My week will be super-busy, but I am hoping to get at least two posts done over the course week. It is really hard for me to believe that June will be over soon. The good news that comes with that is that I will be posting the details of my First Annual Blog Birthday Giveaway on July 1st!

Have a great week!

TAG: Summer Lip Color Picks

There's a Tag going around where bloggers/vloggers pick their selections or 'picks' for favorite products that they'll be using over the summer months. It's usually got three components: Lips, Cheeks, and Eyes; some throw in Nails, too.

I've decided to participate in this tag, and I'll only be doing the Lips, Cheeks and Eyes part of the post. For nails I tend to rely on one or two colors over the summer and that's it - I'm not that exciting when it comes to changing up my nail polish!

The summer lip products I picked are, for the most part, brights or sheers. I picked a lot of pink, red, peach and coral. The other thing about the shades that I picked are that they are two-toned: a red pink, a bronze pink, etc. Additionally, most of the products I'll be sharing with you are available at your local drugstore or Wal-mart.

Here are my selections for summer lip products:

In order, they are:

- Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Shade 170 Coral Reef (a matte bright coral)
- Cover Girl NatureLuxe Gloss Balm in Shade 220 Peony (a shade that looks red in the tube but comes out a sheer dark pink)
- NYC Extreme Lip Glider Lip Gloss in Shades 522U Carnegie Melon (a shimmery coral peach) and 526U Chinatown Cherry (a shimmery bright red)
- Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm in Shade 06 Woppin' Watermelon (a matte bright light pink)
- Maybelline New York Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Shades D160 Cool Watermelon (a matte bright pink with orange undertone), G80 Sweet Ginger (a bright shimmery pink with gold), G140 Peach Mocha (a shimmery peach with bronze)
- Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in Shades 320 Funtime Fuchsia (a shade that looks like a dark fuchsia pink but comes off as a bright fuchsia pink with blue undertones) and 200 Latino (a shimmery pink with blue tones)
- Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick in Shade 535 Park Avenue Peach (a matte peach-coral)
- Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Shade 415 Pink in the Afternoon (a matte pink with blue undertones)
- MAC Lipstick in Chatterbox (Amplified finish) (a super bright and creamy pink - kind of a toned down neon)

Here are swatches of each shade (in the order above):

I tag any of you reading this to do this post as well! If you decide to do it, make sure to comment on my post and leave me a link, so I can come and ready your posting about it.
